Top Down Cardi

I am glad she did make a size for an adult but I know that would be too big for me. I would have to delete stitches but overall it does not look like a hard pattern to make. I like top down sweaters because you don't have all those pieces. Thanks for the pattern.

For those who asked about making this sweater for an adult, just look for a raglan sleeve sweater in the adult size. There are many patterns on allfreeknitting.com You can then follow the basic stripe pattern to make the pretty yoke. You could add bits and pieces of yarn to make the random stripes in the body of the sweater. Look for the Italian join in a search engine or on Youtube, to find a great way of joining yarns without having ends to weave in or knots. It looks like the designer added in a bobbly stripe around the neck I think I would leave that off for an adult.

A geat way to knit for chn and babies if you are not sure of their size. You can use left overs without them looking like that too and can add a few inches if need be as the child grows. If using good wool it is a good way to make them last and last.

Oh, dear. I was so hoping this was an adult pattern!! I have a few like this for babies and kids, but don't knit anything for them! I just knit for myself and DH and maybe another adult, sometimes. Will you be working on one for us grown-ups??

you can make this into an adult size this way. Using the gauge on your yarn, cast on stitches this way: measure form your collar bone to your shoulder bone - then figure out the # of sts per your swatch. thats the front measure from your front shoulder bone to the back thats the sleeve part Then from the back shoulder one all accross to the other one thats the back. follow the pattern for children. I shall try find one for adults and post it asap

Someone with a really good math background might be able to proportion this out to adult size and appropriate needles.

Hi Anne Leona - Unfortunately at this time we only have a pattern for the child's version of this Top Down Cardi. We will be on the lookout for adult top down sweaters and add a pattern if we find one. -The editors of AllFreeKnitting
