• Bernat® Baby Jacquards Florals (100 g /3.5 oz; 316 m/346 yds); Main Color (MC) Morning Glory (06129)
• 3/6 months: 2 balls (for both hat and booties)
• 12/18 months: 2 balls (for both hat and booties)
• Booties: Size 3.5 mm (U.S. 4) knitting needles and set of 4 size 3.5 mm (U.S. 4) double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
• Hat: Size 4 mm (U.S. 6) knitting needles and set of 4 sizes 3.5 mm (U.S. 4) and 4 mm (U.S. 6) double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE
Booties: 26 sts and 34 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with smaller needles in stocking st.
Hat: 23 sts and 30 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS

Booties

Sole
With pair of needles, cast on 5 (7) sts.
1st row: (WS). Knit.
2nd row: K1. M1. Knit to last st. M1. K1.
3rd row: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows 4 times more. 15 (17) sts.
Cont in garter st (knit every row) until work form beg measures 3 (3½) ins [7.5 (9) cm], ending with a WS row.
Next row: (RS). K1. ssk. Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1.
Next row: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows 4 times more. 5 (7) sts.
Do not cast off.

Upper
Change to set of 4 double-pointed needles.
1st rnd: K5 (7). Pick up and knit 43 (49) sts around edge of Sole. Join, placing marker for beg of rnd and dividing sts evenly on 3 needles. 48 (56) sts.
2nd to 6th rnds: Knit.
7th rnd: K24 (29). ssk. K1. Place marker on last st. K2tog. K19 (22). 46 (54) sts.
8th rnd: Knit to 2 sts before marked st. ssk. K1. K2tog. Knit to end of rnd.
Rep last rnd 10 (12) times more. 24 (28) sts.
Next rnd: (Frill rnd). Purl.
Next rnd: *K2. P2. Rep from * around.
Cont in (K2. P2) ribbing for 2 (2½) ins [5 (6) cm].
Cast off loosely in ribbing.
With double-pointed needles, top of Bootie facing and beg at center back, pick up and knit 24 (28) sts evenly around Frill rnd. Join, placing marker for beg of rnd and dividing sts evenly on 3 needles.
1st rnd: Inc 1 st in each st around.
2nd rnd: Knit.
Rep last 2 rnds twice more. 192 (224) sts.
Knit 1 rnd.
Cast off loosely.

Hat
With set of 4 smaller double-pointed needles, cast on 80 (88) sts. Join, placing marker for beg of rnd and dividing sts evenly on 4 needles.
1st rnd: *K2. P2. Rep from * around.
Rep last rnd until ribbing measures 1 inch [2.5 cm].
Change to larger needles and proceed as follows:
1st to 6th rnds: Knit.
7th rnd: Purl.
8th rnd: Knit.
9th to 12th rnds: As 7th and 8th rnds twice more.
These 12 rnds form pat.
Rep last 12 rnds once more, then 1st rnd 1 (0) time more.
Size 12/18 mos only: Rep 1st to 7th rnds once more.
Both sizes: Shape top: Keeping cont of pat, proceed as follows:
1st rnd: *K8 (9). K2tog. Rep from * around. 72 (80) sts.
2nd and alt rnds: Work even in pat.
3rd rnd: *K7 (8). K2tog. Rep from * around. 64 (72) sts.

2nd row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows twice more. 192 sts.
Knit 1 row.
Cast off knitwise (WS).
Coil Flower and sew in place on Hat as shown in picture.
