I'll be the first to admit it: I'm not a fan of Star Wars. I know nerds and geeks everywhere are probably shrieking right now, but I can't force myself to feel what isn't there! Now that that's off my chest, I will also admit that I do love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings - and recently, Star Trek: Next Generation. I'm also a huge sci-fi fan - whether it's books, movies or television shows, if it's science fiction, I'll check it out.
That's what's great about Knit for Nerds by Toni Carr, even if you're not a fan of everything that's deemed "nerdy," you're bound to find something that appeals to you in this collection. Knit yourself a laptop bag that conveniently converts into a chessboard. After all, you never know when the mood for the ultimate chess match will strike you. Got cold feet? Knit your Tolkien-loving friend a pair of hairy hobbit slippers to keep toes perfectly toasty.
Also included in this book, are patterns for socks, gloves, hats, legwarmers, bags and so much more! While this book does a great job of providing nerdy inspiration from various television shows, movies and comic books, I wish at least one pattern would have been devoted to something from the X-Files. After all, I can't be the only closet nerd who is obsessed with Agents Scully and Mulder.
