Floral Yoke Cardigan
Perfect for the intermediate knitter looking for some practice with pattern charts, the Floral Yoke Cardigan is a flirty, feminine way to layer. This simply constructed knit cardigan pattern features a row of colorwork flowers along the yoke. The stockinette body is complemented by a seed stitch edge. This knit cardigan pattern can easily be adapted for any time of the year by using colors to match the season.

Gauge18 stitches, 22 rows, 4 inches. stockinette stitch
Materials:
- STITCH NATION® Bamboo Ewe® : 4 balls Periwinkle 5830 A and 1 ball Beach Glass 5510 B.
- Circular Knitting Needle: 5mm [US 8] – 16” and 29”.
- Stitch markers, stitch holders, yarn needle, three ¾” buttons.
GAUGE: 18 sts = 4”; 22 rows = 4” in St st.

Finished Chest Measurement: 33 (36, 39, 42, 48½)”.
BODY
With A and 29” circular needles, cast on 148 (162, 176, 190, 218) sts. Do not join. Work in seed stitch fir 1” ending with a wrong side row.
Next row (right side), work 5 sts in seed st for placket, place marker (place marker), work in St st to last 5 sts, pm, work in seed st to end. Continue as established until piece measures 10 (10, 10½, 10½, 11)” ending with a wrong side row.
WORK ARMHOLES on next right side row: Work 35 (39, 40, 42, 45) sts in pattern for right front, bind off 6 (6, 8, 8, 10) sts work until there are 66 (72, 80, 90, 108) sts on needle after first bind off, bind off 6 (6, 8, 8, 10) sts, work in pattern until end of left front.
SLEEVES
With A and 16” needles, cast on 52 (54, 56, 56, 58) sts.
Work seed st for 1”.
Change to St st and 1 st each end every 9th row 5 (5, 0, 0, 0) times, every 13th row 0 (0, 13, 13, 0) times and every 14th row 0 (0, 0, 0, 4) times – 42 (44, 48, 48, 50) sts. (Sleeve will be slighty bell in shape as it’s wider at the cuff than at the armhole).
Work until sleeve measures 8½ (9, 9½, 10, 10½)”. Bind off 3 (3, 4, 4, 5) sts beginning of next 2 rows for underarm.
Place remaining sts on holders and sew seam.
YOKE
JOIN BODY AND SLEEVES with right side facing, work 35 (39, 40, 42, 45) sts of right front, 42 (44, 48, 48, 50) sleeve sts, 66 (72, 80, 90, 108) sts of back, 42 (44, 48, 48, 50) sts of second sleeve and 35 (39, 40, 42, 45) sts of left front – 220 (238, 256, 279, 298) sts total.
Work even in pattern for 1½ (1½, 2, 2, 2½)” from armhole.
Make buttonhole by working first 4 sts of seed st placket, then yo, k2tog. (make 2 additional button holes evenly spaced ending just below where neckband begins and one in between these two buttonholes). AT THE SAME TIME: Begin working according to chart.
After first 6 rows have been complete, set up for floral yoke pattern with right side facing by working seed st for packet, pm, then 12 (15, 15, 16, 16) sts in St st, *place marker, 18 sts of chart*, repeat between *’s 6 (6, 6, 7, 7) times, place marker, work 12 (15, 15, 16, 16) sts in St st, pm work seed st for left front placket.
When 5 (5, 5½, 6, 6½)” has been worked after armhole, work first dec row by decreasing 26 (32, 40, 38, 45) sts evenly but only in A panels between floral chart sections – 194 (206, 216, 232, 252) sts.
Work 2 (2½, 2½, 3, 3)” more and work 2nd dec row by decreasing 36 (44, 36, 42, 40) sts evenly across next right side row – 158 (162, 180, 190, 202) sts.
Work 2 rows even and then work 3rd dec row by decreasing 42 (38, 50, 50, 54) sts evenly across – 116 (124, 130, 140, 148) sts. Work Seed st for 1”.
Bind off all sts.
FINISHING
Sew armhole seams. Weave in ends. Block sweater. With A doubled, make 5 French knots in the center of each flower.
