Knitting Needle Size10.5 or 6.5 mm, 11 or 8 mm, Circular Knitting Needles

- Red Heart Heads Up (3.5 oz, 106 yd) 701 Candy Pink - 1 ball
- Susan Bates Circular knitting needles: 6.5 mm (US 10.5) and 8 mm (US 11), 16" (40.6 cm) long
- Stitch marker
- Yarn needle
Gauge:
10 sts and 16 rows = 4" (10 cm) with larger needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain gauge given.

Instructions:
Brim:
With smaller needles, cast on 52 (56, 60) sts.
Join, being careful that sts are not twisted, and begin working in the round. Place marker for beginning of round.
Rounds 1-14: *K2, P2; repeat from * around for ribbing.
Body:
Change to larger needles.
Rounds 15-17: *P3, K1; repeat from * around.
Rounds 18-20: P1, *K1, P3; repeat from * to last 2 sts, P2.
Repeat Rounds 15 – 20 four times.
Repeat rounds 15-17 one last time.
Last round:
*P2tog, K2tog; repeat from * around—26 (28, 30) sts.
Finishing:
Cut yarn, leaving a 12” (30.48 cm) tail.
With yarn needle, thread yarn tail through all 26 (28, 30) sts twice. Cinch top of hat as tightly as possible without breaking yarn.
Weave in all loose ends.
