Yarn Weight(5) Bulky/Chunky (12-15 stitches for 4 inches)
Gauge16 sts and 20 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch on larger needles.
Finished Size18" (45.2 cm) circumference unstretched, 22.5" (57.15 cm) stretched, 7.25" (18.42 cm) height excluding beanie. Fits average women's adult sized head.

Instructions
Brim
Using A and size 8 needles, CO 64 sts. Join to knit in the round, being careful not to twist your sts. PM to denote the beginning of the round.
K2, P2 around until brim of hat measures about 1" from CO edge.
Switch to size 10.5 needles and k around for one round.
Hat Body
Round 1: K around with A
Round 2: K2 with B, *K1 with A, K3 with B; rep from * around to last 2 sts, K1 with A, K1 with B.
Round 3: Using B, K2, *sl1wyib, K3; rep from * around to last 2 sts, sl1wyib, K1.
Round 4: As round 3
Round 5: K around with A
Round 6: *K1 with A, K3 with B; rep from * around.
Round 7: Using B, *sl1wyib, K; rep from * around.
Round 8: As round 7
Rep rounds 1-8 one more time for a total of 2 reps. Cut B. Use only A for the remainder of the pattern.
Next 3 rounds: Using A, K around.
Decreases
Note: Switch to double-pointed needles when the stitches feel too stretched around the circular needles.
Round 1: *K6, K2tog; rep around. 56 sts remain.
Round 2: K around
Round 3: *K5, K2tog; rep around. 48 sts remain.
Round 4: K around
Round 5: *K4, K2tog; rep around. 40 sts remain.
Round 6: K around
Round 7: *K3, K2tog; rep around. 32 sts remain.
Round 8: K around
Round 9: *K2, K2tog; rep around. 24 sts remain.
Round 10: K around
Round 11: *K1, K2tog; rep around. 14 sts remain.
Round 12: K around
Round 13: K2tog around. 7 sts remain.
Pull yarn through remaining sts and tighten to cinch closed. Attach pom pom if desired.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Block.
