Aztec Inspired Knit Pillow

Knitting Needle Size11 or 8 mm, Double-Pointed Knitting Needles (DPNs)

- Main Color (MC) Black (28040) - 2 balls
- Contrast A Ultra Blue (28742) - 1 ball
- Contrast B Linen (28021) - 1 ball
- Contrast C Grey Heather (28046) - 1 ball
- Contrast D Grape () - 1 ball
- Size 8 mm (U.S. 11) knitting needles. Pair of size 8 mm (U.S. 11) of double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
- 22" [56 cm] square pillow form
Gauge: 11 sts and 14 rows = 4" [10 cm] stocking st.
Measurements: Approx 22" [56 cm] square.
INSTRUCTIONS
Front
With MC, cast on 59 sts.
Beg with a knit row, work 12 rows in stocking st.
Note: When working from chart, wind small balls of the colors to be used, one for each separate area of color in the design. To change
colors, wind the 2 colors around each other where they meet on WS to avoid a hole.
Place Chart:
Aztec Motif Chart
1st row: (RS). With MC, K3. Knit 1st row of chart, reading row from right to left. With MC, K3.
2nd row: With MC, P3. Purl 2nd row of chart, reading row from left to right. With MC, P3.
Chart is now in position.
Cont working chart to end of chart.
With MC, beg with a knit row, work 12 rows in stocking st, ending with a purl row. Cast off.
Back
With MC, cast on 59 sts.
Work as given for Front, omitting all references to chart. Cast off.
FINISHING
Pin Front and Back pieces to measurements and cover with damp cloth leaving cloth to dry.
Sew 3 sides of Front and Back tog. Insert pillow form. Sew 4th side closed.
I-cord piping:
With MC and pair of double-pointed needles, cast on 4 sts.
1st row: *K4. Do not turn. Slide to opposite end of needle.* Rep from * to * until cord measures length to fit around outer edge of Pillow. Cast off.
Beg at center of bottom edge of Pillow, sew piping around perimeter of Pillow. Sew ends tog.
