Neck shaping: Next row: Pat across 136 sts (neck edge). Turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Keeping cont of pat, dec 1 st at neck edge on next 10 rows, then on following 3 alt rows.
Cont even until Front measures same length as Back to cast off edge, ending with RS facing. Cast off.
With RS of work facing slip next 25 sts from spare needle onto a st holder. Join yarn to rem sts and pat to end of row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 10 rows, then on following 3 alt rows.
Cont even until Front measures same length as Back to cast off edge, ending with RS facing. Cast off.
Collar: Sew shoulder seams. With RS of work facing and set of four smaller needles, pick up and knit 22 sts down left front neck edge. K25 from front st holder. Pick up and knit 22 sts up right front neck edge and 47 sts across back neck edge. 116 sts. Divide sts evenly on 3 needles and join in round.
Work in rounds of (K2. P2) ribbing until Collar measures 7 ins [18 cm]. Cast off loosely in ribbing.
Sew one tassel to each corner of Poncho as illustrated.
Tassel (make 4): Cut a piece of cardboard 5 ins [12.5 cm] wide. Wind yarn around cardboard 40 times. Break yarn leaving a long end and thread end through a needle. Slip needle through all loops and tie tightly. Remove cardboard and wind yarn tightly around loops 1 inch [2.5 cm] below fold. Fasten securely. Cut through rem loops and trim ends evenly.
