Gauge14 sts = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette st (knit on right side, purl on wrong side). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.
Finished Size25½ x 60” (65 x 152.5 cm) when laid flat, before seaming.

Instructions
Poncho
Cast on 89 sts.
Row 1 (wrong side): P1, * k1, p1; repeat from * to end.
Row 2: K1, * p1, k1; repeat from * to end.
Work 3 more rows in established rib.
Next 2 rows:
Row 1 (right side): [K1, p1] twice, k to last 4 sts, [p1, k1] twice.
Row 2: [P1, k1] twice, p to last 4 sts, [k1, p1] twice.
Repeat the last 2 rows until piece measures 59” (150 cm), ending after a right side row (Row 1).
Next 2 rows:
Row 1 (wrong side): P1, * k1, p1; repeat from * to end.
Row 2: K1, * p1, k1; repeat from * to end.
Repeat the last 2 rows once more, then bind off all sts in rib pattern.
Finishing
Fold piece in half, and sew together 20” (51 cm) of one long edge working from the corner inward, leaving center 20” (51 cm) unsewn for neck opening.
Weave in all loose ends.
