Valle Poncho
Knit this rectangle poncho knitting pattern free; it's great for beginner and expert knitters alike!
This gorgeous Valle Poncho draws inspiration from Italy, and we can see that in the gorgeous, contemporary, yet moody and romantic design. This knit poncho pattern is great for knitters of all skill levels, since it's a wonderful introduction into easy patterns for beginners, but simple enough for veterans to complete without any difficulty. The stockinette stitch design keeps this warm and classic, and we love it for layering over turtlenecks and long sleeves in the chilly winter. Try knitting this poncho with one bright, contrasting color against the gray and black for a statement-maker.

Instructions
Notes
-
Poncho is made in one piece, worked back and forth in rows of Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) with Seed stitch borders.
-
Work begins at lower front edge and proceeds up to front neck. Stitches are bound-off to begin neck opening and shoulders are worked separately for 5 rows. Stitches are cast-on again to finish neck opening. Work then proceeds from back neck down to lower back edge.
-
Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of stitches. Work back and forth in rows on circular needle as if working with straight needles.
-
Yarn color is changed to create blocks of color. When changing color, twist strands around each other to prevent holes. Do not cut old yarn color until instructed. Carry color not in use along wrong side of piece.

Beginning at lower front edge with longer circular needle and A, cast on 92 sts, then with B, cast on an additional 48 sts, for a total of 140 sts.
