Knitting Needle Size7 or 4.5 mm, Circular Knitting Needles
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Gauge16 sts and 32 rows = 4" (10cm) in Garter st (knit every row). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.
Finished SizeScarf measures 9¼ x 72" (23.5 x 188 cm).

Instructions
NOTE
Scarf is worked back and forth in rows. Circular needle is used to accommodate the full width of the sts.
SPECIAL STITCH
DD (double decrease) = Slip 2 sts knitwise together, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over knit st – 2 sts decreased.
Mitered Square (make 8)
Cast on 75 sts.
Row 1 (wrong side): K36, place marker on needle, k39.
Row 2 (dec row, right side): Knit to 3 sts before marker, DD, remove marker, k1, replace marker, k to end – 73 sts.
Row 3: Knit to marker, slip marker, k1, p1, knit to end.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 34 more times, then repeat Row 2 only – 3 sts.
Last row (wrong side): DD.
Fasten off final st.
Finishing
Sew squares to each other so that decreases go in the same direction.
Optional Crochet Edging
With right side facing, join yarn with a slip st anywhere along one of the longer edges.
Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around working 3 sc in each corner, join with slip st in first sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.
Weave in all loose ends.
