Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Finished Measurements: 60” long x 6” wide.
Materials:
- RED HEART® Soft™: 2 balls 2515 Turquoise.
- Knitting Needles: 5mm [US 8].
- Stitch markers, cable needle, yarn needle.
GAUGE: 18 sts = 4”; 28 rows = 4” in garter st. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.
Special Stitches
1X1 Rib:
Row 1 (Right Side): *K1, p1; repeat from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: *P1, k1; repeat from * to last st, p1.
Repeat Rows 1-2 for 1X1 Rib pattern.
Braid Cable (worked over 12 sts):
Row 1 (Right Side): Knit.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: Slip 4 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k4, k4 from cable needle, k4.
Rows 4, 6 & 8: Purl.
Rows 5 & 7: Knit.
Row 9: K4, slip 4 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k4, k4 from cable needle.
Row 10: Purl.
Row 11: Knit.
Row 12: Purl.
Repeat Rows 1-12 for Braid Cable.
SCARF
Cast on 41 sts. Work in 1X1 rib for 12 rows, decrease 6 sts evenly on last row – 35 sts.
Row 1 (Right Side): K1, place marker, work Row 1 of Braid Cable, place marker, k9, place marker, work Row 1
of Braid Cable, place marker, k1.
Row 2: K1, slip marker, work Row 2 of Braid Cable, slip marker, k9, slip marker, work Row 1 of Braid Cable, slip marker, k1.
Continue in pattern until piece measures 58”, ending with Row 11 of Braid Cable. Work in 1X1 rib for 12 rows, increase 6 sts evenly on first row – 41 sts. Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
