Maria's Favorite Shawl
This is Maria's Favorite Shawl for a reason. The chunky knit shawl pattern is as beautiful as it is cozy, but that's not it. The shawl is a simple, quick knitting project. The pattern is essentially a lacy repeat, and because it's knit with chunky yarn, you'll be finished in no time. The deep blues and grays of this pattern would look great with gold accessories. It may be called Maria's Favorite Shawl, but after you put it on, it'll be your favorite as well.
Knitting Needle Size13 or 9 mm
Yarn Weight(6) Super Bulky/Super Chunky (4-11 stitches for 4 inches)

- Susan Bates® Knitting Needles: 9 mm [US 13]
GAUGE: 8 sts = 4” (10 cm); 12 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette Stitch. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge

Special Stitch
SKP – slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the stitched just worked and off the right needle (1 stitch decrease).
SHAWL
Cast on 34 sts.
Rows 1-3: Knit across.
Row 4 (Right side): K2, *SKP, yo, k1, yo,k5, k2tog; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 5 AND ALL WRONG SIDE ROWS thru
ROW 13: Purl across.
Row 6: K2, *SKP, (k1, Yo) twice, k4, k2tog; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 8: K2, *SKP, k2, yo, k1, yo, k3, k2tog; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 10: K2, *SKP, k3, yo, k1, yo, k2, k2tog; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 12: K2, *SKP, k4, (Yo, K1) twice, k2tog; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 14: K2, *SKP, k5, yo, k1, yo, k2tog; repeat from * across to last 2 sts, k2.
Repeat Rows 1-14 for pattern until Shawl measures 51” (129.5 cm) from cast on edge or to desired length, ending by working Row 14.
Repeat Rows 1-3 once more.
Bind off all sts in knit.
Finished Size: 17” (43 cm) wide x 52” (132 cm) long
