Materials:
- RED HEART® Super Saver®: 2 skeins each of 316 Soft White A, 368 Paddy Green B, 319 Cherry Red C, and 376 Burgundy D
- Susan Bates® Circular Knitting Needle: 6mm [US 10], 24” (60 cm) long
- Stitch marker
- Stitch holder or scrap yarn
- Yarn needle
GAUGE: 13 sts = 4” (10 cm); 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needle to obtain the gauge.

Special Stitches
kfb (Knit into front and back) = Knit next st but do not remove from needle, knit into back loop of same st and remove from needle.
MB (Make bobble) = Knit into front, back, front, and back of next stitch without removing stitch from needle, slip the 4 new stitches back to the left needle, [k2tog] twice, slip 2 stitches back to the left needle, k2tog,
lift 2nd stitch on right needle over first stitch and off needle.
s2k1p2 = Slip 2 stitches as if to k2tog, k1, pass the 2 slipped stitches over the knit stitch and off the needle – 2 sts decreased.
Notes
1. Throw is worked in sections of Garter st (knit every row), beginning near the center of the throw. Section 1 is worked first then each following section begins by picking up stitches across an edge of the main piece.
2. Poinsettias are worked separately and sewn to finished throw.
3. Refer to assembly diagram for organization of sections and placement of poinsettias.
4. Bind off all sections as if to knit.

Section 1
With A, cast on 50 sts.
Row 1 (wrong side): Knit.
Row 2: Knit. Mark this side as the right side of work.
With A, knit 54 rows. Note: The last of these A-colored rows should be a right side row.
With D, knit 4 rows.
With A, knit 6 rows.
With D, knit 4 rows.
With A, knit 23 rows.
With C, knit 34 rows.
With C, bind off.
Section 2
With right side facing and B, pick up and k64 sts evenly spaced across left side edge of Section 1. Hint: Pick up 1 st in each Garter ridge for 64 sts).
With B, knit 33 rows.
With B, bind off.
Section 3
With right side facing and D, pick up and k17 sts evenly spaced across left side edge of Section 2, then pick up and k50 sts evenly spaced across cast-on edge of Section 1—67 sts.
With D, knit 33 rows.

Place all of these stitches on a holder or length of scrap yarn.
Sections 7, 8, and 9 are worked across the lower edge of the main piece, beginning at the corner of Section 5 and ending at the corner of Section 4. A total of 138 sts are picked up across the edge; 46 sts for Section 7, 52 sts for Section 8, and 40 sts for Section 9.
Section 7
With right side facing and C, beginning at corner of Section 5, pick up and k1 st in each of first 46 Garter ridges across side edge of Section 5.
With C, knit 63 rows.
With C, bind off.
Section 8
With right side facing and A, working across lower edge of main piece and beginning where the Section 7 pick-up row ended, pick up and k52 sts evenly spaced across.
Hint: Pick up and k1 st in each remaining Garter ridge of Section 5, and 1 st in each st of bindoff edge of Section 3 until a total of 52 sts have been picked up and knit. a portion of the Section 3 bind-off edge will remain unworked. Row 2: With C, k2, kfb, knit to last 3 sts, kfb, k2—180 sts.

Petal (make 6 for each flower)
Leaving a long tail (about 10” (25.5 cm)), with C, cast on 3 sts.
Row 1 (right side): Knit.
Row 2: Kfb, p1, kfb—5 sts.
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Kfb, p3, kfb—7 sts.
Row 5: Knit.
Row 6: K2, p3, k2.
Rows 7–16: Repeat last 2 rows 5 more times.
Row 17: K2, s2k1p2 (see Special Stitches), k2—5 sts.
Row 18: K2, p1, k2.
Row 19: K1, s2k1p2, k1—3 sts.
Row 20: K1, p1, k1.
Row 21: S2k1p2—1 st.
Fasten off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.
Center (make 1 for each flower)
With B, cast on 5 sts.
Row 1: K1, [yo, k1] 4 times—9 sts.
Row 2: Knit.
Row 3: K1, [yo, k1] 8 times—17 sts.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew corners of borders together. Tack oneset of 6 petals into flower shape on striped portions of each of three A-colored sections, leaving a nickel-sized space at center of each flower. Allowing piece to curl, tack a center to each flower. Weave in ends.
