Directions are for sizes Small, Medium, Large, 1X and 2X are in parentheses. See note below for customizing sleeve length.
Size of shrug can be customized, to create longer sleeves. Instructions produce a short-sleeved shrug, with sleeves measuring 3½”. For longer sleeves, work longer body piece. Each additional 2” of body, provides 1” more length for each sleeve.
Pattern Stitch
3 x 3 Rib (multiple of 3 sts + 3)

Row 1: K3, *p3, k3; repeat from * across.

Row 2: P3, *k3, p3; repeat from * across.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for 3x3 Rib.
Shrug Body

CO 81 (81, 87, 87, 93) sts.

Work in 3x3 Rib until piece measures 28 (29, 30, 31, 32)” from beginning.

Bind off.

Fold body in half, bringing side edges together. Beginning at each end, sew edges together for 3½” to form sleeves.
Shrug Collar

Fold body in half, bringing sleeves together, and mark center point of one edge for back neck. Place a marker 8 (8, 8 ¾, 8¾, 9½)” before center marker and 8 (8, 8¾, 8¾, 9½)” after center marker. Pick up and knit 37 (37, 40, 40, 43) sts between first and center marker, pick up and knit 1 st at center marker, pick up and knit 37 (37, 40, 40, 43) sts between center marker and last marker—75 (75, 81, 81, 87) sts. Work in 3 x 3 Rib until collar measures 6½ (6½, 7, 7, 7½)."

Next Row: Work first 3 sts, then slip these sts to a holder, bind off center 69 (69, 75, 75, 81) sts, slip last 3 sts to a double-pointed needle.

I-Cord Ties: Working over the 3 sts on double-pointed needle, *knit all the sts, do not turn work. Slide all the stitches to opposite end of needle. Carry yarn tightly across back of work, and knit all the stitches. Repeat from * until I-cord measures 12 (13, 14, 15, 16)” or desired length for tie.

Slip remaining 3 sts from holder onto double-pointed needle and work I-cord in same manner.
Flower Corsage

Cast on 55 sts.

Row 1 (Wrong Side): Purl.

Row 2: K1, *yo, k2, ssk, k2tog, k2, yo, k1; repeat from * across.

Row 3: Purl.

Row 4: *K2, ssk, k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo; repeat from * to last st, k1.

Rows 5 and 6: Repeat Rows 3 and 4.

Row 8: K1, k2tog, *k1, ssk, k2tog; repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2—34 sts.

Row 9: P2, *p3tog, p1; repeat from * across—18 sts.

Cut yarn, leaving a 36” tail. With yarn needle, thread tail through stitches of last row and pull to gather. Secure end and sew seam. With remaining tail, sew corsage to collar with French Knots.
Finishing
