If you've never knitting an afghan before, this one is a good afghan pattern for beginners. Just because there's increasing and decreasing in it doesn't mean this pattern is difficult. In fact, it's a relatively repetitive pattern, so it's easy to get into a good rhythm with it. After a few repeats, you might not even need to look at the pattern itself.
