This dishcloth has a good basic pattern which you can use for larger pieces as well. I have even made a small towel to dry dishes and another as a hair towel after shampooing. Did you ever look at the costs of these items? If you love to knit as I do. all you have to do is buy Thank you.

Hi, has anyone knit these using Lily Sugar n Cream yarn, 3oz / 150yds? I want to get 2 cloths out of 1 ball of yarn using US size 7 needles. Should I work till 49 stitches as stated in pattern or go smaller?

Hi simonetay2357248, to answer your question, the pattern as stated above says you need 1.5 oz to make a dishcloth. So with a 3 oz skein you should be able to make 2 dishcloths. So I think you can work to 49 stitches without a problem, but if you're nervous you can make it less wide.

These are absolutely adorable and soooo cheery! These will be perfect to send out the door with my children who are getting ready to set up housekeeping on their own. It will get me back in practice with my knitting too! Time to dust off my Dummies Guide to Knitting.

This pattern is like meditating with knitting needles! It relaxes and focuses your mind and can remove any outside distractions. I also knit these dishcloths between projects and when I just need something to do with my hands. Perfect for gifts. Easy garter stitch pattern with no gauge required. Change needle size for different size cloths. Love to use variegated yarns and see what color design appears! Great baby blanket idea!

I love that you mention this as meditation because I have always used making these cloths to get myself through an anxious time. I don't have to think about the knitting, just do it! (I also love the variegated patterns)

Perfect beginner pattern. This is barely my second ever knitted project and I love how simple and relaxing it is (much better than coloring ) )

I just took this basic washcloth pattern and extended it into a baby blanket made from a double strand of sports weight cotton chenille. I am trying to bust my stash into more reasonable amounts and this looked like a good project. My crib blanket is 43 x 43 inches. I just kept on knitting until it looked about the size i wanted it, then started my decrease size.

This pattern is my "cleanse" after a bigger project. Simple, practical and mindless. Plus - I always have a stash of last minute gifts on hand. And - I use this pattern for baby blankets- just go bigger!
