With circular needle, cast on 70 sts. Place marker for beg of rnd and join by working the first st on the lefthand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle, and being careful not to twist sts.
Work in K1, p1 Rib worked in rnds for 8 rnds.
Change to St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) and work until piece measures about 7 in. (18 cm) from beg.
Next Decrease Rnd: * K5, k2tog, rep from * around – 60 sts at the end of this rnd.
    Knit 1 rnd.
    Next Decrease Rnd: * K4, k2tog, rep from * around – 50 sts.
    Knit 1 rnd.
    Next Decrease Rnd: * K3, k2tog, rep from * around – 40 sts.
    Knit 1 rnd.
Divide sts onto the double pointed needles, with 10 sts on each of 4 needles.
    Next Decrease Rnd: * K2, k2tog, rep from * around – 30 sts.
    Knit 1 rnd.
    Next Decrease Rnd: * K1, k2tog, rep from * around – 20 sts.

Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread yarn tail into blunt needle, then draw through remaining sts, pull to gather. Knot to secure.
