Spring Meadow Scarf Knit Along: Week 2

Fern Lace Welcome to AllFreeKnitting's FIRST Knit Along! If you're just joining us and would like some more information or you missed out on the materials list, then learn all about our exciting adventure ahead of us. We're on week two, where we'll be knitting the second section of the scarf together. This section is an unbelievably beautiful, lacy design that cleverly uses slipped stitches for a light, airy look. Doesn't it just look perfect for ringing in the warmer seasons? We're so excited to see your scarf start to come together!

Instructions:

Section 2: Fern Lace

Row 1 & all odd rows. (WS) p

Row 2. k2, (yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k1), k1

Row 4. k2, (yo, k1, ssk, k3, k2tog, k1, yo, k1), k1

Row 6. k2, (yo, k2, ssk, k1, k2tog, k2, yo, k1), k1

Row 8. k2, (yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k1), k1

Row 10. k4, (k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k5) end k4 instead of k5

Row 12. k3, [k2tog, (k1, yo) twice, k1, ssk, k3]

Row 14. k2, (k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, ssk, k1), k1

Row 16. k1, k2tog, (k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso) rep to last 10 sts, end k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, ssk, k1

Repeat rows 1-16 twice.

What a fun knit project and the knit alongs are a great way to learn new techniques. While this is a project from 2015, a link to the first week is still available, so folks new to these pages can create the same scarf with the benefit of seeing all the different colorways chosen by the knitters. I had to start all over. I ran out of Unforgettable yarn, so I used Red Heart Super Saver. I hope that's ok.

I taught my self how to knit ayear ago. But now after seeing this scarfm I had to try. I'm in love with this pattern. I started yesterday and completed the 1st part. I'm starting part 2 today.

Somehow this isn't working as well as section 1. If I work the pattern, I either don't have enough stitches or too many left to complete the rows. I'm about 3 too short or 4 too long! What's up?
