Lightning Fast Ruffle Scarf
With just one hank of Red Heart's Boutique Rigoletto Prints yarn and this easy knit scarf pattern, you can create a stunning, colorful accessory that only takes hours to complete. Made with a special web-like fiber, the Lightning Fast Ruffle Scarf is a chic design that ruffles itself as you knit it! For those of you unfamiliar with this type of yarn, Red Heart has included a free knitting tutorial below the pattern. And beginners, don't shy away from this design. Once you get the hang of working with this yarn, you'll be creating stylish scarves in hardly any time at all.
Yarn Weight(6) Super Bulky/Super Chunky (4-11 stitches for 4 inches)
Materials:
- Red Heart® Boutique™ Rigoletto Prints™: 1 hank 2935 Majesty
- Susan Bates® Knitting Needles: 6mm [US 10]
- Similar color sewing thread and
- needle (optional)
Gauge: Gauge does not apply to this project.
FINISHED SIZE: The technique used to make this scarf does
not allow us to give exact measurements.
SCARF
Untwist hank of yarn; find yarn end and stretch it out to 4”- 5” (10-13 cm) wide.
To cast on: Fold end of yarn over about 2” (5 cm) to hide raw edge. Insert knitting needle in and out along top of this folded section twice going through all thicknesses; you now have 2 stitches on your needle. Turn.
To knit: You will be stretching out yarn as you go and using the top edge of the yarn to knit with. As you knit, leave about 2” (5 cm) between each stitch and place yarn edge over needle a few threads from the top.
Row 1 (RS): Knit the 2 stitches on your needle. Turn.
Row 2: Knit 2. Turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you have 4 to 5” (10-13 cm) remaining.
FINISHING
Bind off as usual. Fold end under and sew with needle and thread to secure, if desired.

Easy yes - to do but hard to visualise so watch a video Quick Not as fast as you think it might be I'm a relatively fast knitter a long sleeved cardigan in about evenings but the one and only one of these I made I found mind numbingly boring and very tedious as you have to keep turning it Even though my yarn was a good brand there were knots in my ball to be carefully overlapped and the raw edges caught together later with a needle and thread Every one I knew who used the same brand had at least one knot in their ball so some acknowledgement of this by the manufacturers and instructions how to join would have been appreciated Knitting time in total between and hours Finishing time several years as it was soooo boring I kept deserting it in favour of something more challenging I…Read More have still never worn it because by the time it was finished it was completely out of fashion Maybe in another ten years or so it will be just the thing

I have made many of these scarves, after awhile you do not even need a pattern. The ruffle yarn also comes in team colors for those who knit for sports enthusiasts.

that is a pretty scarf design.....I wonder if changing colors at a certain point could make the ruffles layer into a candy strip or rainbow ruffle

This yarn sounds so interesting ... the scarf is beautiful! I'm not a very good knitter, but this yarn looks like it's very forgiving and would hide any mistakes. I wonder if Hobby Lobby carries this yarn ...
