Simple Striped Baby Legwarmers

Knitting Needle Size7 or 4.5 mm, 9 or 5.5 mm
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
Gauge16 sts = 4” (10 cm); 22 rows = 4” (10 cm) in St st with larger needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.
Finished SizeTo fit thigh measurement: 8 (10)” [20 (25) cm] Finished length: 9½” (24 cm)

Directions are for size 12 months; changes for size 24 months are in parentheses.
Legwarmers (Make 2)

With smaller needles and A, cast on 32 (40) sts.
Rows 1 - 5: *K1, P1; repeat from * across. Change to larger needles.
Rows 6 - 8: With C, work in St st, beginning with a knit row.
Rows 9 - 13: With B, continue in St st.
Rows 14 - 16: With C, continue in St st.
Rows 17 - 21: With A, continue in St st.
Rows 22 - 24: With C, continue in St st.
Rows 25 - 29: With B, continue in St st.
Rows 30 - 32: With C, continue in St st.
Rows 33 - 37: With A, continue in St st.
Rows 38 - 40: With C, continue in St st.
Rows 41 - 45: With B, continue in St st.
Rows 46 - 48: With C, continue in St st.
Rows 49 - 53: With A, *K1, P1; repeat from * across. Bind off in K1 P1 ribbing.
Finishing

With yarn needle, seam legwarmers using mattress stitch. Weave in all loose ends.

A little boy in my life has just hit the crawling stage - a couple of pair of leg warmers will pad those little knees and protect his legs too glad of the pattern and the suggestion. For some reason we tend to think of leg warmers and dancers or as a fashion statement. This is a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion and the pattern
