I am having a hard time with the very first row! I have counted the stitches many times and come up with 138 and I am supposed to have 144.

Hi esdunlop, the blog post states the following regarding needle size: "Size 8 (5 mm) 47 circular needle (for magic loop) or set of size 8 (5 mm) double pointed needles." Hope this helps! -Editors of AllFreeKnitting

The 47" for the magic loop is correct, if it was in cm it would not work.

HI. Is there a way to adapt this beautiful pattern to a woman's hat? I'm sure that adding a pom pom would help, but I'm talking about size.
