This is a great easy blanket. You just need a lot of yarn and once you figure out wide you want it, all you have to do is knit. You can make it in color blocks like the photo or else use your yarn stash and decide the colors as you go. I always say I knit just to knit (keep my hands busy) so this a great project to do that does not require a lot of attention. And who does not need another blanket? It is a great charity project as well. Thank you.

Hey! I love this pattern but I was wondering if, when you said ten skeins, you meant per color or for the whole blanket, two skeins in each color?

Hello almostvalentinesba by 3192185, it looks like the designer used two skeins of each color since the blanket features five different colors and she said she used 10 skeins total. Hope this helps! -Editors of AllFreeKnitting

I noticed several posters asked about how many stitches to cast on. Make a swatch with the yarn and needles you want to use, then measure to see how many stitches are in one inch and multiply that times the width you want the blanket to be (in inches). For instance, if you wanted a 40 inch wide blanket and your gauge was 4 stitches to the inch, then you would need to cast on 160 inches.

I love knitting with double strands of yarn, makes whatever you're knitting so soft. The colors in the pattern are lovely - but knowing me I'd mix two different colors together for each block, to give it my own unique signature.

I agree, and to me this looks like a stash buster project, so knowing I wouldn't have enough of a single color to work two strands of it together, I'd mix two different colors (or complementary colors, like shades of green). I love patterns like this that I can put down and pick up and not have to figure out where I am in the pattern!

What a darling blanket! I love that it is knit with two strands, as it would be even more bulky and cuddly. This would be a fun project for beginners and veterans alive, as it only uses garter stitch. I think that you would have to be careful to buy all of the colours of yarn from the same brand to avoid tension issues when you are switching colours (believe me...I have made this mistake before!) This pattern is definitely going ton my to-do list!

So I made this blanket! It was super easy because it's just garter stitch. But knitting with two strands together makes the blanket super soft and smooshy. I've been dragging it around my apartment all week because it's so warm and cozy! I love this pattern - it's perfect for any beginner knitter.

No actual pattern on the page. It is available through a link to her etsy shop for 4.99, so not free. Very disappointed, i thought this might be a good project for my brownies and girl guides to do this year.

Hi imgodiva, actually, the pattern is available for free on the page. She states, in between photos, that the entire blanket is knit in garter stitch, after casting on however many stitches you would like. She then gives the sequence of colors. Hope that helps! I have to agree. The point of a pattern is to provide the details on how to make it, how much yarn, needle size and how many stitches to cast on and how long you are knitting for.
