- Yarn needle, two ¾” (2 cm) buttons, sewing needle and matching thread

Instructions
1. Sweater begins at back hem and is worked up and over the shoulders and down the front in one piece.
2. Buttons are sewn through both layers of fabric; there are no functional buttonholes.
Back
Cast on 39 (42, 46) sts, and work in St st for 7 (8, 10)” [17.8 (20, 25) cm].
Sleeves
Cast on 25 (28, 35) sts at beginning of next 2 rows – 89 (98, 116) sts. Work evenly until Sleeve measures 5 (5½, 6)” [12.7 (14, 15) cm], ending with a purl row.
Neck Opening
Next 2 rows:
Row 1 (RS): K27 (31, 40), bind off center 35 (36, 36) sts, k27 (31, 40).
Row 2: P27 (31, 40), cast on 35 (36, 36) sts, p27 (31, 40) – 89 (98, 116) sts.
Front
Work evenly until front measures 5 (5½, 6)” [12.7 (14, 15) cm].
End Sleeves
Bind off 25 (28, 35) sts at beginning of next 2 rows – 39 (42, 46) sts. Work evenly until Front measures 7 (8, 10)” [17.8 (20, 25) cm] from end of Sleeves.
Bind off.
Finishing
Sew side and underarm seams.
Weave in ends.
With sewing needle and thread, sew buttons to side neck openings 1½” (3.8 cm) from each side, working through both layers of fabric.

I am not sure which is cuter the baby model or the sweater, but this pullover would be simple and quick to knit I think and ideal for a little girl or little boy -- ideal given the number of friends having babies lately - another plus is that it looks easy to get on and off
