Repurposed Knit Towel Mat
This is about as thrifty of a project as you can get. Instead of tossing out old, used towels, turn them into yarn and create your own Repurposed Knit Towel Mat with these easy knitting instructions. Your towels don't have to match; in fact, the more colors you use the more funky your rug will look!

This is such a good idea and you could use white towels for a more traditional look, or even dye white towels to the colour you want. I really like Ealizabethane's idea to put glue on the bottom to stop them slipping. You can also buy special anti-slip rug backing in lots of stores, that could be cut to size and stitched to the back.

A few long lines of white glue that dries to invisible will fix that-I do it with knit slippers so they don't slip all the time.

Sorry but these are a major tripping hazard (especially for older folks). Might look colorful and funky but safety first.

I do the same thing with old bed sheets. Just make sure you rip them outside, they leave a heck of a dusty mess in the house. I have made several of them, and we use them inside and out.

Not so crazy about the colors, but will try one cause I think it is cute and looks comfy to stand on.

that is not appealing. It may be thrifty but not so easy on the eyes.

I think it is a great idea knitting with bath towels. I have knitted rugs with nylon tights and have found them so useful and the different shades of the tights gives them an interesting colour which can be used in any room colour scheme. Maria Zarb.
