Hi, I'm very new to knitting so apologies if this is a silly question! I'm trying to figure out how much yarn to buy, I can't get the "one skein of Knit Picks Preciosa Tonal " here so how much do I need to get in grams or metres? I'm wondering about a worsted weight merino that's 192 metres per 100gm hank - how many hanks would I need? Thank you very much -)

Hi jay! You would need about one and a quarter hanks of the yarn you were thinking of using to complete this project; the original pattern used a skein of yarn that contained 250 meters of yarn. We hope this helps! Happy knitting! -Editors of AllFreeKnitting

The Dove Gray Cowl is beautiful. When I saw the picture I almost went past it thinking the pattern was to advances for my knitting skills. But I clicked over to the pattern and realized it was a fairly easy pattern. With the larger needles and worsted weight yarn, it will be a quick knit. Not a lot of rows to memorize the pattern.

Lovely lace cowl pattern to knit. This is an easy pattern stitch. All I must do is keep track of row I am completing.

I was surprised to see that relatively large needles are used to knit with fingering weight yarn in this pattern. No doubt that's what gives it the airy look, which is lovely. This would look beautiful in a summery shade like pink or yellow.

Check the pattern it is not a fingering weight yarn, it's a worsted weight yarn. Incorrect references on this page occur rather often. If you google the yarn name and had ravelry to it, you can get complete listing of just about every yarn ever manufactured from their data base. Happy knitting.

This cowl is absolutely beautiful! I love that it is knit with such a light weight yarn. This would be perfect for an evening out in the spring or early fall. The drape is stunning. Very elegant. The lace effect gives a lot of interest to this piece and I like that it looks complicated, but is actually pretty easy to achieve. I'm sure that anyone would love to get this cowl as a gift.
