This looks like a warm and snuggly cabled cowl. With the bulky/chunky yarn and big needles it should work up quickly. The Tahki Gemini yarn used for this pattern has a chained texture to it that gives the cowl a unique look. You could substitute another bulky yarn but it wouldnt have the same finished appearance.
