I love to make dishcloths. They last longer and wash up nicely. Also it is a good way to try out a new pattern. This pattern has a good texture to it. It should work up quickly once you get the pattern down. Thank you.

"K2, purl to last 2 sts, k2" Does this mean K2, purl the rest of the row until you get to end, then Knit last 2? "K2, (K1, P2) x11, K3" So am I Knitting 3, purl 2, knit 3, purl 2 etc until last three stitches and knit 3? As you can tell, I am very new at READING knitting patterns. Thank you!

Dishcloths are always fun to make. I like to keep a few made up and ready to give as gifts if someone just needs a little reminder that they are special. I like this one because it is visually appealing. It is also a simple design, but not so simple that it gets boring.

Dishcloths are one of my favourite things to knit. It is a great way to pass the time while I'm watching TV. This pattern is a fantastic stash-buster to get rid of all those part balls of yarn that you have kicking around your craft room. The texture of this pattern really makes it stand out from other dishcloth patterns. I've already picked up a couple of balls of a lovely gray colour yarn to make a set to match my kitchen. I bet that these would be lovely to give as housewarming gifts or to sell at a charity bazaar. This is a great pattern for beginners and experienced knitters alike. I will definitely be making this one many times over.

Dishcloths are great gifts, for any occasion, can be combined into blankets, lap robes, afghans ect. If made in double knitting or double crochet make great hot pads as well. Make a lot between other projects to have on hand when needed or to sell at local flea markets or craft events.

Dishcloths are one of my favorite things to knit because they're so quick, and they make good gifts. Everyone loves a hand knit cloth. I love it when someone has never used one and I tell them to try it. They think they're the best!!

I have knitted washcloths and dishcloths in the past as gifts, so was excited to see this lovely pattern! The texture and appearance is very nice, and I have found that a pattern like this looks best in a solid color. Texture tends to get lost with a self-patterning yarn. Just my 2 cents!

It's been a while since I've done any knitting and the kids are getting ready to fly the coup so I'll knit a few of these dish cloths to give them on their way out. These look nice, sturdy and cheery! Maybe using these they'll remember the ol' mom and call home more often.

never thought of knitting dishclothes until allfreeknitting - now I am hooked like the idea of the placemat - wonder if they would work as hot pads under warm dishes to protect the table? any ideas???

I love this pattern and can envision a lot of different ways to use it in my kitchen. I think it would make perfect place mats, that would cushion my dinnerware. Just add on a few repeats until its as wide as you want, then knit to length. If you cast on 49 stitches, the finished mat would be approximately 12.5" wide.

wonderful, beautiful pattern. I have been knitting for 3 weeks and found this pattern to be very easy, but looks fancy! and it is thick, which I like a lot. I used peaches and cream cotton yarn and number 7 needles.

This is the first knitted pattern I have ever made, and it turned out beautifully. Easy to follow instructions for this crocheter-turned-knitter. I used 8 mm needles and ww yarn, and knitted 3 rows at the beginning and ends. Lovely!

I too noticed several errors. It states to use 3.75 mm needle or needle to get gauge, and there is no gauge given. Also there is nothing in the pattern to indicate there is any kind of border, except the 2 knit stitches at the beginning and end of each row. I'm going to have a go at it today, when I work it out, I'll post it here tomorrow or the next day.

in knitting patterns when there are instructions in brackets they indicate what is to be repeated to create the pattern in this case you are repeating the k1,p2 11 times before moving onto the k3. hope this helps.

It looks like you have a border row(s) of several knit stitches?
frenchgypsy58

It looks like 4 rows of knit stitch first before starting pattern. Also 4 knit stitches at beginning and end of each row. Then finish with 4 rows of knit stitch.

There is a note at the bottom of the pattern indicating that there are 3 rows of knit at the beginning and end of the pattern.

I was just able to access the pattern. It did take a while for the pattern to load, but the page showed up for me. Make sure your browser is up to date, as that may also be causing problems :)
