This is a simple scarf pattern, and made on circular needles so no seams to sew. In the previous comments there was an issue about length. For a cowl I usually cast on the recommended number of stitches and then knit a row or two and check the size/length, since it depends a lot on what yarn you are using.

Thanks for the suggestion I have found the yarn in which to knit this, so shall double the amount and double the stitches, and report back when it is finished

I just cast this on and its very small. I would recommend doubling the amount of cast on stitches.
