This baby blanket pattern is easy to do in seed stitch with super bulky/super chunky yarn. Just a word of caution, though. The type of yarn used, Sirdar Big Softie, is a wool and acrylic blend. Some babies have sensitive skin that may be irritated by wool, so it might be good to choose a cotton blend instead.

As soon as I saw this pattern I was instantly reminded as a young girl knitting this pattern. I must admit I never knitted the blanket but I used the same pattern and knitted a scarf. I am sure with using a soft plush yarn this baby blanket will be soft to the touch and a warm wrapping blanket. I think it will be beautiful in white or in soft pale colors.

This blanket would be as warm as it is attractive - all those lacy openings somehow trapping warmth. I have never understood it, just know it works
