Bold and Beautiful Scrap Afghan
Even if you've only been knitting for a few years, chances are you've got a good amount of scrap yarn piled up. Thanks to this simple knit afghan pattern, you can dwindle down that yarn stash by making a Bold and Beautiful Scrap Afghan. Designed using the log cabin knitting technique, this striking pattern creates colorful squares using strips of knit rectangles. Make a statement with this afghan that's as much a piece of art as it is a practical piece of home decor.

Thank you very much for this gorgeous free pattern! I have a huge collection of scraps and although I have crocheted many afghans I have never knitted one so I am really looking forward to making this beautiful design. We have just redecorated our teenage sons bedroom, he has asked me to make him a blanket and this one is going to be exactly right for him.

My horizontal gauge is right on, but my vertical gauge is too short. I've looked in 3 books and they all say that if you are doing squares, you have to be exact both ways. How can I do that? If I know looser my horizontal gauge will be wider?

I would love to try this pattern but my anti virus keeps blocking the pattern, others beware. If you could check it out and resend, would appreciate it.

If your anti virus is blocking the web site, than you must change your settings on your anti virus. if it is set too high it is simply blocking certain pop ups and not actually detecting viruses. in fact if its blocking you from getting there, it can't actually detect a virus without actually hitting the site. if its set to "high" its blocking just about anything with cookies, you can lower the setting to "medium" and still be entirely protected. hope this helps.

I made this fabulous Afghan for a Grandchild. About 118 thousand stitches!!!!!It looks amazing. I did use all new wool as I don't have a stash any more.. In the process of getting one! Using the left over odds and ends to knit a small cot rug..Wish I could post a photo just so I can show my afghan off.

This pattern works up beautifully. I only changed the pattern to make all the squares match like a quilt. I love log cabin quilts and had been looking for a knitted pattern that looked like them.

I'm almost done with mine. I made all the squares the same, though. I love the pattern and intend on trying one with varigated or ombre yarn to see how that turns outl

I love this and it's great that it doesn't need to be finished all at once. I have a few others that I am working on for presents for this year.
