Knitting Needle Size11 or 8 mm, Circular Knitting Needles
Yarn Weight(6) Super Bulky/Super Chunky (4-11 stitches for 4 inches)
Gauge1 stitches, 2 rows, 3 inches. stockinette stitch
Materials:
- Bernat® Baby Blanket™ (10.5 oz/300 g; 220 yds/201 m) Lemon Lime (04223) - 2 balls or 390 yds/355 m
- Size U.S. 11 (8 mm) circular knitting needle 32” [80 cm] long or size needed to obtain gauge.
Measurements: Approx 38” [96.5 cm] square.
Abbreviations:
Approx = Approximately
Beg = Begin(ning)
Cont = Continue(ing)
K = Knit
P = Purl
Pat = Pattern
Rep = Repeat
RS = Right side
St(s) = Stitch(es)
WS = Wrong side
Gauge: 8 sts and 13 rows = 4” [10 cm] in stocking st.
Instructions
Cast on 75 sts. Do not join. Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows.
Knit 3 rows noting 1st row is WS.
Proceed in Basketweave St Pat as follows:
1st row: (RS). Knit.
2nd row: K8. *P3. K5. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3.
3rd row: K3. P5. *K3. P5. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3.
4th row: As 2nd row.
5th row: Knit.
6th row: K4. P3. *K5. P3. Rep from * to last 4 sts. K4.
7th row: K3. P1. K3. *P5. K3. Rep from * to last 4 sts. P1. K3.
8th row: As 6th row.
These 8 rows form Basketweave St Pat.
Cont in pat until work from beg measures approx 37” [94 cm], ending on a 1st or 5th row of pat.
Knit 2 rows.
Cast off (WS).

This precious little blanket will knit up super fast, with the big needles and only two skeins of yarn. It would be a perfect shower gift for the parents to be and likely to become a favorite cuddle blanket of the new little person. The simple 8 row pattern is easy to memorize and it creates a lovely texture.
