If you are looking for a way to keep your fingers and hands warm, then this pattern for Easy Knit Fingerless Gloves will be just the solution you need! True to its name, this knit fingerless gloves pattern uses stitches that experienced knitters have used in previous designs. This pattern uses just one skein of yarn and won't take long to make, either. You'll have a new pair of fingerless gloves that are ready to wear in very little time when you use this pattern! The mitts can be worn under long-sleeved shirts or sweaters for a subtle addition of warmth, too.

    Knitting Needle Size7 or 4.5 mm

    Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

    Gauge16 sts = 4" (10 cm); 22 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

    Finished SizeMitts measure 8¾" (22 cm) circumference x 9" (23 cm) long.

    • RED HEART® Soft®: 1 ball 9263 Cinnabar 
    • Susan Bates® Knitting Needles: 4.5mm [US 7]
    • Yarn needle

    Instructions

    Mitts (make 2)

    1. Top Cuff
      Cast on 37 sts.
      Rows 1–8: Knit (Garter stitch).

    2. Mitt
      Row 1 (right side): Knit.
      Row 2: Purl.
      Rows 3 and 4: Knit.
      Rows 5-8: Repeat Rows 1–4.
      Rows 9 and 10: Knit.
      Rows 11–18: Work in Stockinette st (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) for 8 rows.
      Rows 19 and 20: Knit.
      Rows 21 and 22: Work in Stockinette st for 2 rows.
      Rows 23 and 24: Knit.
      Rows 25–28: Repeat Rows 21–24.
      Rows 29–34: Work in Stockinette st for 6 rows.
      Rows 35 and 36: Knit.
      Rows 37–44: Repeat Rows 29–36.
      Rows 45 and 46: Knit.
      Rows 47 and 48: Work in Stockinette st for 2 rows.

    3. Cuff
      Rows 1–8: Knit.
      Bind off on wrong side

    Finishing

    1. With yarn needle and using Mattress stitch, sew up mitt from bottom (bound off edge) to top for 6" (15.25 cm). 

    2. Fasten off. 

    3. Sew seam from top to bottom for 1" (2.5 cm) and fasten off, leaving a gap for the thumbhole. 

    4. Weave in all loose ends.
