Heart Placemat
"A small placemat for a coffee break (or for a child) in the shape of a heart. The heart was knitted sideways and in the end I crocheted a back-stitch (single crochet) around the entire heart. The knitting is easy, but requires a lot of concentration as each row starts differently in order to make the shape of a heart."
NotesEach row starts and ends differently, and seed stitch is used for the knitting. This pattern requires a lot of concentration.

This is a cute mug rug or place mat pattern. If I made it I would use worsted weight cotton yarn, since that's what I have on hand. Then I could wash it when it needed it (tea and coffee spills come to mind!). To get the bulky or chunky yarn effect I would use 2 strands of yarn together.

I love the looks of this knitted heart placemat! As the designer says, this pattern will take a bit of concentration to make, but I think it would be worth the time. I think you could also use a kitchen cotton yarn. I am going to take the challenge of making this placemat someday soon!
