    Instructions

    Chunky wavy 2-tone scarf

    1. Yarn A - Cast on 30 stitches (place marker after 15)
Row 1 – Knit to end of row
      Row 2 – *K1, YO, K5, SK2P, K5, YO, K1* , Repeat *to*
Row 3 – Purl to end of row
Row 4 – Knit to end of row

      Repeat rows 2-4 three times

    2. Change colour – Yarn B

      Repeat rows 2-4 four times

      Change colour – Yarn A

Keep repeating rows 2-4 four times - alternating yarn colours until there are 4 blocks of each colour

      Change colour – Yarn A

      Repeat rows 2-4 twice

Repeat row 4 – Knit to end of row
Repeat row 3 – Purl to end of row
Bind off knit-wise (loosely to maintain width)

Repeat entire process from beginning so you have 2 half-length scarves.

    3. Block scarf halves if necessary so both halve match width & length and to obtain straight edge for joining. (Blocking is only necessary if both halves are noticeably different size wise. Otherwise it’s optional for just a neater, smoother looking knitted product)

Join the straight ends of the halves together to make one long scarf ensuring right sides are facing the same way. Weave all loose ends in. Use leftover yarn to make tassels for scarf ends if desired – alternating colours are effective.

The scarf looks lovely, however I think the pattern may end in frustration. The 6 mm needle is far too small for the 12 ply super bulky weight yarn called for in the pattern, I tried another pattern with the much smaller than recommended needle years ago, and it was awful. It was so tight that it was stiff as a board and impossible to work the fancier stitches in the pattern, had to switch to metal needles out of fear of breaking my wood ones. I do wish the pattern had mentioned exactly which specific yarn was used in the pattern.
