I hve not tried this shawl yet. However, I have found Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball difficult to work with and I have some experience knitting.

It's true, this is a simple pattern, and using the Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball yarn gives it a lovely appearance. However, Shawl in a Ball is a novelty yarn, a self-striping brushed acrylic with a cotton slub, so if you use a different worsted weight yarn you will get a different effect than what is pictured.
