I have some of this yarn and it is very definitely lace weight and theres a lot of it-consider this when you are substituting-each skein is juct over 700 yards and the pattern calls for 2! Its really beautiful yarn, but extremely pricey. Hope this helps. Happy Knitting.

Love this shawl....but, wow, that yarn is pricey! I wish patterns would show some alternatives to the more expensive yarns.

Not sure if this is helpful a year later however try Knitpicks.com for some reasonable prices on lace and DK weight yarns. Of course, what I think isn't pricey you may but try.

beautiful! but the pattern calls for a yarn that is laceweight, not DK.

The picture sure looks like laceweight, plus using size 3 needles. Yet the directions say the yarn is DK with a gauge of 22-24 st/4 inches. I'm confused, but think it's probably lace weight.
