Pattern says Yarn A 3 (4,4) skeins, what does the (4,4) mean/stand for?

The pattern has 3 sizes...therefore 3 amounts of skeins. A small size vest needs less yarn than the medium or large. All patterns with multiple sizes have skein amounts for each size, usually written as this pattern, the first size and the remaining sizes in brackets. I hope this helps.

The numbers in the brackets are the amounts required for the subsequent sizes of the vest.

First off I can't believe this amazing vest is free. 2nd when I go to the pattern that it is so well written with excellent pictures and explanations. Once a beginner has their tightness levels they could learn so much from working this up. I can't wait to get started on one of these for a dear friend. Thank you so much for this perfect pattern.

This is a lovely vest. I plan to knit this in one solid color in cotton yarn. I find it raised and less time consuming to knit with circular needles. I have used them for several years. For myself, it is almost like knitting on a machine. I alter patterns by knitting them in one piece, dispensing with seams.

I have always loved garter stitch for so many projects plus edgings so they lay flat. This project is just lovely in it's simplicity and yet so stylish. It's so versatile to wear and its use of color that having more than one in your wardrobe would not feel repetitious

Stylishly simply or simply complex - take your pick. This pattern has certainly changed my opinion of garter stitch. The vest is attractive, even sophisticated and mere garter stitch that stitch that exists to teach beginning knitters, to anchor the stocking stitch, that stitch that in the hands of the right designer can be so much more. This project is simple to knit yet looks complex when done. Never judge a book by its cover, nor a knitting project by its stitch.
