This is a really lovely way to make potholders. You can coordinate the colors of your yarn and fabric to make them truly unique. I've used a washcloth for the batting inside, and I'm sure any thick cotton, even denim, would also work. There are three different stitch patterns provided but you could use any one that's your favorite.

These are the prettiest potholders I've seen yet. The fabric (which can be hand or machine sewn) adds a touch of elegance to simple knitted fabric. They're completely customizable, too. This is going to become my go-to gift until I get tired of making it. -)
