I love exploring different types of yarn. It can be easy to forget that yarn is something that is made, and that it can come in all shapes and sizes. Yarns from Knit Collage do a great job of stepping outside the box. Full of color and life, the vibrant art yarns from Knit Collage are a joy to look at and work with. I was able to get up close and personal with a skein of their Cast Away Yarn, and I must say I was very impressed.
Cast Away Yarn is one of the more subtle art yarns. The thickness of the yarn varies from very thick to thin. The bumps in the yarn make give knitted objects great texture—even stockinette stitch looks interesting when knit up with this yarn. Made with 100% wool, the yarn is delightfully soft. Everything about this yarn is special. Handspun in India, each skein of Cast Away, and all of the Knit Collage Yarns, is unique. The colors blended into the yarn reveal the twist of the yarn, adding to overall visual effect of the yarn.
I got to look at the Wild Flower color of Cast Away, and was very impressed by the color choices made in the yarn. Bright pinks are blended with more subtle cream and light brown colors, for an excellent visual contrast. Knitting with this yarn is a real treat. A cowl, scarf, or hat knit up in this yarn would look absolutely fabulous.
