7 New Inspiring Free Shawl Patterns, Knit Tops & More

The Best of the Midwest Stitches Fashion Show

Knitting is largely a solitary pursuit; the times when knitters do get together as a larger group tend to be celebratory, almost like giant fiber parties. The Knitting Universe STITCHES events are permanently bookmarked in every knitter’s calendar. To accommodate the wide geographic range of knitters, there are four STITCHES events across the nation: East, South, West, and Midwest. Each show can then showcase the talents of local knitters and fiber enthusiasts. The STITCHES shows are a weekend of pure woolly and fiber bliss, with lots of fun and friends thrown in for good measure. One of the most anticipated events at STITCHES is the fashion show, where knitters gather to see the latest designs modeled before their eyes.

The fashion show is such a popular and inspiring part of the STITCHES event that the Knitting Universe has decided to compile some of the best designs into an eBook, The Best of the Midwest STITCHES Fashion Show: 7 New Inspiring Free Shawl Patterns, Knit Tops & More. If you missed the fashion show this year, this free eBook is the best way to recreate the experience. You can be the star of your own fashion show when you knit up these gorgeous patterns.

Free Shawl Patterns

Susan's Shawl

Knitters, almost universally, love shawl patterns. Shawls knit up with relative ease—you don’t have to worry about sleeves, anyway—and there is a lot of room for variation between different patterns. Knit shawl patterns can be the same general shape, yet look completely different, giving knitters a lot of room to experiment with different styles. The shawls in The Best of the Midwest STITCHES Fashion Show: 7 New Inspiring Free Shawl Patterns, Knit Tops & More are sure to become favorites. Susan’s Shawl (page 24) is a prime example of the gorgeous shawl patterns that you will find in this free eBook. This pattern features bands of lace that are easily mastered by the novice knitter, yet still attractive.

The Princess Hibiscus Shawl (page 22) is a beautiful pattern that features an intricate lace boarder. An enterprising knitter with a bit of ambition could easily knit all of the shawl patterns in The Best of the Midwest STITCHES Fashion Show: 7 New Inspiring Free Shawl Patterns, Knit Tops & More to get her holiday knitting out of the way. With so many marvelous shawl patterns to choose from, it will be hard to pick just one to knit.

I want to knit Susan's Shawl from Fiesta. I printed the pattern and was unable to read the chart key and any of the symbols. I tried to enlarge the chart and was unable to do so. Is it possible that you could send the chart on page 27 enlarged enough to read the key and symbols? I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks, Cinda Curtis
