A great pattern to start learning to knit in the round, you will need both a circular needle for the hat and DPN's to make the ears. As this is knitted in chunky weight yarn it is very quick to make and I was able to knit one in an evening (although I am an advanced knitter so it may take longer for beginners). The instructions are really easy to follow and the shaping is simple with the only decrease stitch you need being K2tog so ideal for beignner knitters. It would also be easy to make this a kitty hat by changing the colours.
