I am a firm believer that anyone, young or old, can learn how to knit.  All you need is a good teacher!  The problem with a lot of the beginner knitting books is that they don't cater very well to visual learners.  While I'm sure many people can learn how to knit by studying written instructions and pictures, there are those of us out there, such as myself, who benefit from seeing those instructions and images put into motion.  We need to see videos!  That's what I love most about Knitting 101: Master Basic Skills and Techniques Easily through Step-by-Step Instruction; not only does this book offer clear written instructions for basic knitting techniques, but it also comes with a DVD that shows these techniques in action. 

Because Knitting 101 is a spiral-bound book, new knitters can easily leave the book open - enjoying it as it stays nice and flat - on the table while they follow along with yarn and needles.  Aside from learning essential knitting techniques, like casting on and the knit stitch, Knitting 101 takes the new knitter on a journey and becomes progressively more challenging as the reader delves further into the book.   By the end, you'll be knitting with double pointed needles, hand felting flower embellishments onto knit scarves and reading color charts like they're nothing more than an article from the morning newspaper.  There are also plenty of simple, and more challenging, knit projects along the way to keep readers motivated and feeling accomplished.   

I highly recommend this book to any knitter who is either new to the craft, or is looking to beef up their skills!
