The moss stitch in this dish cloth gives it a great texture for washing and scrubbing. I like the look with the self patterning yarn but I think it would look pretty in a bold, solid color as well. I like small projects like this that I can knit in a short amount of time.

Every time I learn a new knitting pattern or stitch, I pick up some cotton yarn and a pair of needles to knit a wash cloth. This gives me an opportunity to learn the pattern while working on something that is quickly made and useful. It takes a bit of time for my fingers to learn the pattern and get into the rhythm of the knit. The easy moss stitch in this washcloth makes a nice alternative to ribbing on cuffs, hems and bands.
