This is one of those patterns that looks complicated but really isn't. It looks like cable stitches but is actually just done with knit and purl stitches. That gives it a great texture, perfect for washing. The tan color is okay but I would go for some either some primary colors or really bright ones.

I liked this pattern so much I used it to make a scarf! The pattern looks like cable work. Used the same cast on but with wool yarn and knitted to about 50". It looks exactly like the picture, but longer.

I love this pattern. What is the finished size of this dishcloth? Is there any way I can reduce it to approximately 6" x 6" or a 7" x 7". Also, I have Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn.... And Red Heart Worsted Medium. On the label it says #313 Aran. What does Aran mean? I notice you have it in your directions. Which yarn would be best to use since I have them on hand. Thaniks!

I've used this pattern and I used any type of cotton yarn, and I don't see why you cant use Red Heart Worsted! Also, most dishcloths I used a size 7 needle.

I wondered about Aran myself. So I did a bit of looking around. It's apparently just a weight of yarn: wisegeek.com/what-is-aran-yarn.htm
