I'm always happy to see a pattern using mass market yarns and this one certainly fills that bill. The use of the multicolor yarn alternating with the solids make for an interesting and colorful baby blanket. I've read that it is good for babies to have colorful surroundings and this blanket surely conforms to that recommendation.

Beautifully simple baby blanket in a lovely set of colors. I like the addition of the variegated yarn to tie the stripes together, but this should work up beautifully with any choice of colors. The picked up vertical borders help frame the blanket. You can find a tutorial for picking up edge stitches by searching the net
