French Trapper Knit Hat
"This hat pattern is worked flat and seamed, making it perfect for the beginner or advanced knitter. The weight of the yarn and corresponding needle size determines the size of the hat. This pattern fits most: sport weight for a child, #4 and bulky weight for youth and adult. Typically, one standard skein makes a hat and the tassel. Use up your yarn scraps and make a striped hat!"
NotesMatch the needle size to the yarn, as called for on the yarn label, to attain an approximate fit to the head circumference.

This is a fun hat pattern, great for both adults and kids. It would look great in almost any color, even bright ones, or as suggested above you could bust some of your worsted weight yarn stash and make it with thick or thin stripes. The tassel on the end is a nice different touch than a pom pom.

I remember seeing men wearing the 'trapper' hat when I was a child in Northern Ontario and in Qubec-- cannot find them now, other than handwoven ones -- shall enjoy knitting this pattern -- with the missing rows duly noted may add a few rows to be sure it covers ears and forehead for warmth when snowshoeing or cross country skiing and working in the bush - but knit in a thick soft yarn, these are so warm.

To rainfairy63 802749 3 It looks like they forgot to copy over those rows. Just work as others...Rows 30-32 Work even in St st. It's because of this only give this a rating of 4 stars.
