This is a great pattern but I agree it is not a beginner one. I just moved to a new city so will either have to make a hat to represent my old home town or a hat for my "new" home team. Yes I could buy licensed merchandise for a lot of $$ but handmade is so much better!

Terrific pattern -- I made a sparkly green and white Jets hat (they were so close to the playoffs this year!) for my mom and it turned out lovely. However, I will say that this is mislabeled as beginner. This calls for circular needles, the incorporation of two or three different colored skeins of yarn and a pom-pom on top. I suspect it must have been labeled that because the actual stitches consist of knitting and purling. In my opinion, it should be labeled easy or even intermediate -- I don't know any beginner that could conquer this! Other than that, I'd highly recommend this project. Everyone knows a sports fan, so it makes a great gift and it doesn't take very long to make - a couple of days or so. I will update when I make another hat! Thanks very much.
