This seems like a nice pattern, and with the jumbo yarn and large needles it should work up quickly. I noticed the Materials List calls for a smaller set of needles, but I don't see them used in the pattern instructions. Did I miss something? Does anyone know what they are for?

I don't think you've missed anything, I checked the redheart site and it is the same there, must be an error. There is no indication anywhere of using smaller needles for anything.
