I would love to make this, unfortunately she has an abbreviation in the pattern without an explanation in the key. The abbreviation is K5K, it is not listed anywhere and I have asked and the designer doesn't get back to you, when I went to the forum several people have asked about it and haven't received an answer even though their questions were posted several years before mine. Pattern is useless without the explanation of the abbreviation, which is really too bad .

I have tried to download this pattern several time but, when I try to copy and paste it, I just get symbols on several of the lines.

You have to download the pattern from ravelry, then print from there. Using copy and paste on a pdf formatted pattern changes some of the written pattern to binary, those are the symbols you are seeing.
